Take Advantage of Social Bookmarking, one of the last improvements of our Ab·core Platform
As of now we have entered with our Platform into Socialbookmarking, a tool through which you mark contents of the Web that are of interest to you. These selections are saved Online, can be shared as well as make use of the lists chosen by others. Also, you can make your own publications, share them and vote for them. For further understanding, keep reading….
Module for Social Bookmarking for the news
Social bookmarking is the mechanism through which a person that encounters an interesting webpage or article can add it to a service of “bookmarks” or markers, so that others can find it. It is as if you tagged the site, making it visible to all.
If many people say an article is good, we can offer a listing of the contents most red in the moment by seeing how many people have voted. The most renowned websites for social bookmarking are del.icio.us and digg.com, along with those showed in the illustration.
Naturally, as content creators, we want our webpage to be “bookmarked” as much as possible, and therefore, any tool that makes life easier for the user is more than welcome!
Through the Social Bookmarkign links that we have placed under the news, what is sought is that the reader of our article can bookmark our webpage and the webpage of your organization, by only clicking on a link. What we present today is the framework in the news service, and soon it will be available in others such as events, links, quotes and more.
If you want to define which are the social portals to show in your news, the position of the icons, the title of the section between one and the other, you can configure it by going to Services Setup -> Web -> Social Bookmarking. Also, you can have a personalized definition for each language of your organization, and also add your own buttons easily.
Oh, we almost forgot! If you found the article interesting, we would appreciate it if you “bookmarked” it that way more people will know of its existence. As always, we hope this improvement is of your interest!
Other Improvements of Equal Importance
Besides the social bookmarking, this week we have published a series of significant improvements that project some incidences that were presented in the platform and that are changing radically our way of perceiving our users or stakeholders and our published content.
1. We have corrected the cookies generation that was produced when calling a subdomain of an organization. Sometimes, when going to a subdomain we would appear in another section of our webpage that was not what we were looking for.
2. Improvement of CSS to make visible the attachments in the new webmail with Internet Explorer. In spite of its renovated style, there were some difficulties to download attached documents in the new Webmail. Now this incidence is solved!
3. Pre-codification of content and templates to HTMLEntites to avoid errors in codification UTF-8/ISO-LATIN-1. If in the previous weeks there were odd symbols in your interface, it was due to these codification difficulties. This item has also been solved.
4. Improvements in the algorithm of image and icon reduction to conserve the transparency and use images with a transparent background. Until now it seemed hard to publish logos or images with transparent background. Now, that is just in the past. You can publish the images in the style you desire.
5. Correction of an error in the generation of the file sitemap.xml. Now you can generate the map of your webpage with no inconveniences.
6. Improvement in the styles (css) and the HTML code to be compatible with XHTML.
7. Improvement in the accessibility to pages and modules, especially in the elimination of HTML Tables presentation. Basically this improvement facilitates the accessibility of webpages to read their content, specifically in the case of people with visual problems. Your reader can move easily through the content of the page, be it photos, texts or graphs.
8. Improvement of the integration between Extranet Module and subscriptions to the newsletter. The Extranet module was outlined in “summer improvements”. The means to create an extranet is to create a space between intranet and Internet. An area of registered users, capable of using the services of your webpage fully, as well as information, solely because of the detailed registration when entering the website. An extranet user is more of a family member: can get rid of captchas or antispam filters, but you can make the most of their information by creating, for example, work groups, detailing the people that are a part of it, their profile or curriculum, depending on the information requested in the registration.
