Headline news

This week we present a series of improvements to Iwith.org's Ab-Core Platform: interesting new aspects concerning News, Stakeholders and Forms, which we'll explain in simple language in this article.

  • In News, we've made it possible for you to use tags: that is, you choose key words in the text which will allow your news to be found by search engines, if anyone is interested in the subject. And not only that: over time, we expect a 'tag cloud', to develop, like the example here on the right. A tag cloud is a visual representation of the tags or key words used on a website. Generally this listing of words is arranged alphabetically; the most used tags are the ones in large-size letters.
  • Another new feature this week is that you can use micro-templates in different sections of your website. We now have the micro-template for NEWS, LINKS, QUOTES AND EVENTS, so now we can personalize different areas of our portal, especially in its design.
  • A third novelty is that now the News is published with an extensive set of metatags; these are incorporated into the header of a web page and are invisible to the ordinary visitor, but are of great use to browsers or other programs. Their purpose is to include reference information (metadata) about the page: author, title, date, key words, description, etc. This information could be used by search robots to include the page in the databases of search engines and can show up in the search summaries or be taken into account during searches, and will be invisible to an ordinary visitor.
  • Tags are also used to specify certain technical information used by browsers to display the page, such as the group of characters used, expiry date of the content, the option to store the page in cache or categorize the content of the site ('adult content', 'violence' etc)
  • As for the Stakeholders, we're pleased with the improvement in the administrators' navigation interface. Simply put, it means that now there's just one entry per language, allowing us to see more stakeholders per page.
  • Finally, there's an enhancement in the forms: now we can create a form without having to define an expiry date. Also, the form's URL (http://......) appears at the time of creating and managing the forms.

Well, that's it: go ahead, design, get us listed in the search engines, and make the most of that website!
