Headline news

We've just published an updating which incorporates some improvements and corrects some of the faults in the news services- especially in the RSS readers, events, Web-editor and the menu system.
Innovations in the News Services and your RSS:

*We've already explained what RSS feeds are. It is the possibility to make the info you publish available for the subscribed users. To receive it, they need an “information flow” or RSS reader. Your web address-which your readers are subscribed to - usually has the following form: www.yourwebaddress.com/rss.

However, there are companies such as FeedBurner, that provide blogs and webs ways to advertise themselves, and allow them to get data and statistics to optimize their contents.
For instance, if you used Feed Burner, you should change the feed URL of your page to a page with the word feed Burner; that is to say, you have to change your feed URL to http://feeds.feedburner.com/nameofyoursite.

Now you can redefine the feed URL advertised on your page thanks to the improvements of Ab.core, having the option to use an external service as Feedburner or other available ones. This definition can be chosen in the RSS preferences for the news service and in the section edition for each section.

*Another recent improvement made at the platform is the possibility to show the time of publication of the news: This change has been asked for by several organizations that publish more than one piece of news a day and need, for that reason, the time of publication. It can be activated from the preferences menu.

*In the same way that some users are subscribed to your RSS feeds, you can be subscribed to the news flows or to other webs and blogs RSS feeds and show them at your own website through a snippet.
Now, Ab.core platform presents a better capacity of parameterization of the RSS Aggregator: It's possible to define the separator and format in the preferences menu in order to create a more personalized appearance. Moreover, news service will appear in the language we have previously selected, so that the news will appear on our web in that language.

Two more details to finish with the news services improvements: An addressing error on the sections page and a bug in the administration mode-which impeded the proper organization of the news- have been repaired.

Events service

  • At the events, it is also possible to redefine the feed URL advertised on the page, which allows to use an external service as feedburner as we have previously explained. This definition can be configured in the RSS preferences for the events service and in their own edition framework for each calendar.

WebPages Editor

  • The images editor now uses fileUpload as a tool to upload pictures, but it also allows us to select images that we already have on the server.
  • The Bug which added HTML comments on the titles edition has been eliminated.
  • Improvement in the URL treatment and conversion, keeping a good navigation among web sites belonging to different sub-domains.
Styles and Menus
  • A CSS code compressor has been installed to optimize the loading process. This code will especially affect services (news, events, album...) and menu styles.
  • Additionally, the cache information notification system has been improved, so the navigator will be more efficiently informed in case something is in the caché, so the loading of the page will be quicker. Basically, if you have already worked in a website and afterwards you enter the same web, the navigator will more easily recognize that is the same page and, therefore, it will load the contents with more agility.
We keep on working on some other improvements about which we will hopefully be able to inform you briefly.

Thank you for your comments, ideas and incident notifications, since they let us improve our Ab·Core platform day after day.
